Baby Sign

“Child development specialists have produced decades of research showing that the environment of a child’s earliest years can have effects that last a lifetime”.

The brain of a child absorbs so much and changes so much in the first 3 years of life. I played classical music in the background when I could as I researched that It was beneficial in brain development and to be honest I didn’t need any evidence or research to back this up. I am a true believer in sound therapy.

I had always been interested in sign language and felt after looking into it, it would be beneficial for our communication. I had already attended sensory groups that although excellent, were to busy and overwhelming for me with all the sensory stimulation.

When I joined Julies class, the group was a pleasant size, there was sensory stimulus but just the right amount, we learnt new signs, sang, played musical instruments and used movement for learning and development for our little ones.

So although there were babies present the environment was providing them with sound, sight and touch and for me as a Mother it was a positive experience helping me to motivate myself after a sleepless night, the classes provided comfort and support in times when my OCD was heightened. I really enjoyed the classes and I attended for around 2 years and then also online with the current coronavirus situation.
